Clinical Fellow post ST2+ in Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine and Paediatric Emergency Medicine

Post available: 2

From March 2017 for period of six months

Applications are invited from the UK and abroad for the above post at a dynamic, high profile paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and emergency department, and is suitable for those wishing to gain further experience in the management of paediatric emergencies and critically ill children.

The eight bedded PICU and a two bed HDU at St. Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, admits children from over 60 different hospitals in the south-east of England. The unit has a proven track record for critical care in life threatening infections, interhospital transport, decision support systems and clinical research.  There is an active core training programme in paediatric intensive care, including simulation training, and airway management training through attending anaesthetic lists.

Experience in critical care (either neonatal, paediatric or adult) is desirable.  Experience in anaesthetics and emergency medicine, although desirable is not essential.  Applicants should hold MRCPCH or equivalent.

All trainees will work within the PICU team. The Clinical Fellow will provide clinical service on PICU and HDU. All trainees are actively involved in the PICU academic, research and audit programmes. The duration of the Clinical Fellow post is six months to one year in the first instance and can be extended.  The work pattern is a seven-person full shift rota and is EWTD compliant.
