Fixed Term – 1 year renewable

The NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility (ICRF) at Hammersmith Hospital, based in the world class facilities of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial College London, offers outstanding experience of clinical research, especially early phase trials across medical and surgical specialities including oncology, haematology, metabolism, neurology, immunotherapy and vaccines. The post holder will contribute their recent NHS experience in acute medicine / surgery to multidisciplinary teams led by experienced Principal Investigators providing medical support for patients and healthy volunteers in trials of drugs and advanced therapies (e.g. genetically modified vaccines and gene therapy), as well as human controlled infectious challenge, diet and nutrition. Prior experience in GCP and research skills are welcome but not essential as the post provides excellent training for junior doctors seeking a rewarding and informative period in clinical research / translational medicine; while also being approved for Pharmaceutical and Regulatory Medicine specialist trainees. Suitable candidates wishing to pursue an academic career will be supported to develop their own research and apply for the wide range of BRC and other research fellowships / PhD schemes available at Imperial. Contribution to the work of the UK Clinical Research Network (UKCRF) and attendance at relevant conferences will be encouraged.

The post is NIHR funded, offered initially for a one year which may be renewed, and appointed at ST1-ST4 dependent on experience, fulltime or as a job-share arrangement. Full access to the NHS pension scheme and educational opportunities is provided.  Shifts are generally 9-5 weekdays, but flexible shift patterns including evenings or weekends may occasionally be required. Opportunities to maintain specialist or general medical experience via the ICHNT Staff Bank or internal placements will be supported where feasible. We strongly encourage interested applicants to arrange an informal visit to discuss their ambitions.
