Band 8a - Macmillan Information and Support Service Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual with experience of working in a professional capacity with people affected by cancer, and of managing people, teams and volunteers. Project / change management qualification would be an advantage and advanced IT skills i.e. PowerPoint/Excel/ Word & Access, strong communication and analytical skills essential.

Using expert knowledge, initiative and strong interpersonal skills the post holder will responsible for the operational management of the Imperial Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service and associated information centres, the Benefits Advice Service, Macmillan Cancer Navigator service and the Cancer Open Access Follow-up support workers.

The post holder will lead on-going review of patient information needs, and develop a strategy to ensure the Imperial Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service meets the information and support needs of people affected by cancer. Working across the Trust sites and in collaboration and partnership with community based support services, GPs, local hospices and Appropriate Cancer Networks, as well as other third party organisations ensure a progressive and responsive service to our cancer patients and their families.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
