Clinical Fellow Post, Clinical Oncology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Full time post to Support Clinical Oncology Services

We are looking for an enthusiastic Oncology Clinical Fellow to work within the Department of Oncology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (formed by the merger of the 3 large teaching hospitals of Charing Cross, Hammersmith and St Mary’s Hospitals). This individual will work within a team of 10 medical oncology postgraduate trainees and a number of academic clinical fellows.

This post is based within the Oncology Service at Imperial College Hospital, based the Charing Cross site. Our service has an international reputation for cancer treatment and research, due to its close links with Imperial College University (part of the national academic health science network) and working partnership with the ICR. We are a leading provider of education for undergraduates and postgraduates. The Trust offers specialist care for almost all cancer types (except paediatrics and sarcoma) and is the national lead for management of gestational trophoblastic tumours. We provide acute oncology services to inpatients on the Charing Cross site and supportive AOS services to our acute sties. We provide a regional service for malignant spinal cord compression co-located with neurosurgical services and a specialist regional intracranial stereotactic radiotherapy service. Services include external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy with state of the art modern technology and equipment. We are a department of currently 12 clinical oncologists & 10 medical oncologists, with major opportunity for academic development and research.

It is envisaged that this would be ideally suited to a senior trainee in clinical or medical oncology who is looking to further their clinical experience and CV as out of program experience or post CCT. This may also be suitable for a candidate looking to apply for oncology training post (ST3) if they have relevant acute oncology experience. The post holder will work to support the AOS multidisciplinary team in the review of acute oncology emergency admissions, AOS inpatients and support the elective service. They will also have the opportunity for a program of self-development according to their developmental needs with opportunity for outpatient clinic work, clinical research experience, management development or educational training according to the needs of the candidate. Clinical Oncology applicants would have the option of technical radiotherapy innovative experience and training including stereotactic work. The successful appointee will be expected to engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, service improvement and clinical audit. You will be encouraged to avail of the training & research opportunities in line with your professional developmental needs.
