Are you a dynamic, motivated and assertive individual who has a strong interest in managing and communicating with a wider team within the hospital?  Would you relish the challenge of working in a busy, fast moving department?  Being the key administrative support to the patients, clinicians and managers in Accident and Emergency?  Would you like to impact on patient experience and be a key driver for change and improvement of patient flow through the hospital emergency pathways?

Then we would like to hear from you.

As a patient flow coordinator you will be the first point of contact for patients calling the department. You will answer their queries and help solve any issues they may have encountered. You will work alongside the clinicians in order to ensure that plans are in place for each patient in department, and troubleshoot potential barriers or delays in the patient pathway. You will work closely with the bed managers, making sure that beds are allocated to the patients as soon as they become available. You will liaise with the porters in order to prevent any delays in moving patients into the relevant departments.

In addition, you will work in partnership with the acute ward managers in order to assure those patients who are referred to specialities are appropriately managed. You will make sure that equipment is in order and ready to be used. You will work closely with the A&E management team and other administrative staff in order to provide a safe and efficient service to our patients.

The post involves creating close working relationships with services outside of the Emergency Department, such as with the site team, bed managers, ward managers, business manager of the acute wards.

You will have the chance to develop your administrative skills on our award-winning in-house courses and through a programme of structured appraisals, support and development.

We can also offer a range of employee benefits including interest free season ticket loans and assistance in securing accommodation
