Band 5  Staff Nurse Paediatric Intensive Care Unit

We are looking for a Band 5 nurse to complement our existing nursing team and work within our dynamic and friendly Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of skilled and highly motivated staff who provide high quality care to children with a variety of conditions including medical, surgical, trauma, orthopaedics, plastics and ENT.

Staff are supported by a thorough induction programme which is both classroom and ward based and includes supernumerary time to ensure staff are fully prepared for working in an intensive care environment. We also offer continuing educational and professional development from an in-house education team. We are committed to ensuring that all staff have a positive work experience which enables and supports them to provide the best possible care for the children and families who use our services.

About us

Our 10-bedded Paediatric Intensive Care Unit provides both intensive and high dependency care for children with a wide variety of different conditions and specialities. Some of these include specialist haematology/BMT, infectious diseases, respiratory, allergy, ENT, trauma and a broad range of medical and surgical diagnoses. We serve both our local population receiving patients through our A+E and wards as well as being a tertiary referral centre receiving patients from other NHS Trusts through a dedicated paediatric retrieval service.

We pride ourselves on our close working relationship with the Paediatric wards, Paediatric Emergency Department and Children’s Community Nursing Teams. We have a strong ethos of inter-professional team working.

About you

We are looking for nurses who are committed to the delivery of compassionate high quality care. We strive to use the views of staff working in our service to improve our current and future service provision. For this post there are many varied learning and development opportunities. We promise that we will guide your development with a comprehensive programme. Your development will be tailored to meet your needs and the needs of the service. We are enthusiastic about education. You will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills in caring for children who are critically unwell.
