Consultant in Respiratory and Acute Medicine with interest in lung cancer and pleural disease

Charing Cross Hospital

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Division of Medicine and Integrated Care

This is a 12-month fixed term appointment, to support the acute medicine, acute respiratory and lung cancer services at Charing Cross hospital (CXH). This post is necessary to back fill clinical sessions to release colleagues in senior leadership roles during the Trust’s interim leadership arrangements pending appointment of a permanent CEO.

The post-holder will contribute to the acute medical take at the Charing Cross site, primarily through support for acute respiratory admissions, especially those with primary respiratory failure requiring non-invasive ventilation, as part of our planned acute respiratory unit, in line with BTS quality standards and the recommendations of the NCEPOD enquiry into the care of patients receiving NIV. The post-holder would also provide support to emergency admissions with pleural disease and facilitate access to day-case pleural services as well as conducting lung cancer clinics and participating in the work of the cancer MDT.

This post therefore represents an opportunity to deliver excellent care to patients with lung cancer and pleural disease, in a specialist centre, supported by excellent and long established multi-disciplinary teams and would be very suitable for a post CCT candidate looking to develop as a consultant in a supportive team.
