An opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Ward Manager on South Green Ward an acute assessment, short stay medical/surgical unit. The unit provides an environment for patient assessment and care either under our ambulatory care pathways or our acute admission specialties.  Developing skills in the care of patients in the immediate phase of their acute presentation period right through to discharge – providing support to our Emergency Department and GP partners.

We are looking for a dynamic leader with substantial experience as a Registered Nurse with experience and a special interest in medicine to join the senior leadership team within the medicine and integrated care division.

You will be responsible for promoting a high standard of evidence based nursing care and multi-disciplinary working. You will be expected to adopt a team approach to problem-solving and therefore excellent communication, management and organisational skills are essential.

A strong approach to multidisciplinary team working is vital for this role and you must be a highly motivated forward-thinking professional who can demonstrate the ability to lead and support staff in a proactive and effective way. Working closely with the Medical Body, Lead Nurse, Directorate Senior Management and Allied Health Professionals you will play a key role in the management and strategic development of the ward.

The successful applicant must also be able to demonstrate significant experience at a senior level at Band 6 or above working in a medical ward setting. Evidence of professional development is essential to the post.
