Fast forward your nursing career at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Our world-renowned hospitals are full of opportunity for nurses who are starting out in the speciality of medicine or looking for progression to develop new skills, get involved in quality improvement and collaborate with leading surgical and medical teams.

Undertake a bespoke rotation programme and learn to care for patients with a range of conditions to secure a job in the specialty you love.

Respiratory

This is a very dynamic area where you will have the opportunity to develop high level skills in the field of respiratory nursing. We are also very excited in June to be opening a new acute respiratory unit as part of the ward. You will nurse respiratory patients in the most acute phase of their illness and receive training and development in non-invasive ventilation. This is an ideal post if you love respiratory but is also a great foundation for critical care.

Elderly care and frailty

Working with our expert team of nursing, medical and therapy teams you will perfect your skills and develop techniques in managing acute and complex care in one of three award winning wards for elderly and frail patients. Staff enjoy working on our wards as they are small, friendly and are full of innovative ideas. Pet therapy, breakfast clubs, tea parties and dementia support groups all allow us to offer best experience and outcomes for our patients. Medicine for the elderly is recognised as a speciality in itself and we offer courses to further your development in this field.

Gastroenterology and Hepatology

Although located on separate wards these two specialities could be a perfect rotation for you.

Our hepatology service, for patients with acute and chronic liver conditions, is developing at a rapid pace and new treatments are constantly becoming available.  Working in this dynamic service, you would have plenty of opportunity to work closely with the specialist hepatology team and the research liver day unit, giving you plenty of scope to develop your skills and experience.

Gastroenterology  - we provide a complete service for the diagnosis and care of patients with a range of gastroenterological conditions. Our ward consists of 15 single rooms all with en suite facilities, making it an attractive and comfortable ward for both the patients and staff. You will be given a personally tailored development plan to enable you to develop your skills and experience. We also have specialist nurses including the Inflammatory Bowel Disease team that work closely with the ward teams. If your aspiration is to further you career in this field, or indeed you may aspire to be a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the future, this experience will give you great experience to take your career forward.

You will gain optimal experience by working in our nursing teams. Our highly trained and supportive senior nurses will ensure your smooth transition across a range of wards so you can gain knowledge and realise your nursing potential. You will benefit from specialist skills training, clinical and education supervision with a dedicated mentor and leadership development. You will also be able to draw on the expertise of multidisciplinary teams. We take pride in respecting the opinions of each other and sharing our knowledge across the team which includes nurses, doctors, therapists and social workers. Our joint aim is to deliver the highest quality of care possible to our patients.

Fulfil your potential in hospitals that make history: Charing Cross, Hammersmith, St Mary’s, Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea and Western Eye
